Thighplasty is an aesthetic procedure that corrects the thighs by removing excess skin and fat to create a firmer, more youthful, and shapelier thigh shape. Thighplasty, sometimes also called a thigh lift, usually corrects excess skin and sagging on the inner thighs. A thigh lift is usually relevant in the case of significant weight loss or ageing processes, which lead to excess skin and/or fat deposits and cellulite. In such cases, non-invasive methods such as sports or healthy eating are usually unable to improve the situation.
A common combination of thigh lift and leg liposuction is particularly relevant in cases where there is a large excess of fat.

The process of thighplasty
Thigh lift is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2-3 hours.
The length and location of the incisions made during the surgery depend on the desired result: if a small correction is needed, small incisions are made on the inner thigh; if a large amount of excess skin and fat is removed, the incision is made across the entire length of the thigh.
After the incision is made, leg liposuction can be performed if necessary to remove excess skin.
Before surgery
During the consultation, the patient’s expectations are discussed.
Post-surgery period
Patients can go home the day after surgery. It is recommended to return to work after 2-3 weeks, when more movement is allowed.
Movement is restricted a little more after the thigh plastic surgery to avoid stretching the thigh tissues and allow them to heal correctly. After surgery, you should try not to squat, lift heavily or climb stairs.
It is normal to feel pain, tenderness and swelling in the thigh area in the first few weeks, which usually subsides within a few weeks. After surgery, wearing a special compression garment for about a month is essential. Exercise is typically recommended to resume after 6-8 weeks.
The incisions should be protected from sunlight for at least half a year.
Surgical risk
The risk of complications is extremely low, but adverse reactions to anaesthesia, bleeding, infection, haematoma (accumulation of spilt blood in or between tissues), seroma (subcutaneous fluid accumulation in the tissues), wound infection or thromboembolism (blockage of a leg vein), wound dissection, death of tissues (necrosis), pronounced scars, asymmetry, contour irregularities are possible. All these complications are usually avoided by following the surgeon’s recommendations after the thigh plastic surgery.
Results
The results may not be visible immediately after the thigh lift surgery due to bruising and swelling, but the first results will be visible after a few weeks. It takes 6-12 months for the thighs to heal fully.
Maintaining a stable weight, regular exercise, and a healthy diet are essential for lasting thigh lift results.
